Decks and Recorders
Your next deck may prove not to be a "deck" at all ! We are experiencing
a rapid transition away from from traditional "tape-based" acquisition and recording with a move to
Solid State recording onto chips and cards. Many of today's Access Centers are recording onto hard drives and
cards which can then be placed into low cost card readers and transfered directly into NLE timelines or
Playback Media Servers.
Gone
are the days of encoding, digitizing and capturing and all that wasted time that went with it. None-the-less,
videotape decks will still be around for a while, used as source decks and for archive transfers. It will also
continue to be cost effective to record or 'burn' DVDs of your program content, as many of the Playback Servers
have the capability of reading and transferring the files from the discs.
Below are the Solid State devices and Videotape Decks that Access
A/V regularly incorporates into newer studio and facilities.
